Radiographic Images

X-rays, also known as radiographs, are an essential part of any dental care. They are extremely important in aiding dentists with dental diagnosis and treatment plan. X-rays can also be used as a preventive tool, by helping dentists diagnose potential oral care issues before they become a major problem. An early intervention can be done with the help of radiographic images.

X-rays are divided into two main categories, intraoral and extraoral. Intraoral is an X-ray that is taken inside the mouth. An extraoral X-ray is taken outside of the mouth.
Radiographic images that are available here are:

- Periapical radiograph

Removable Prosthesis

Removable prosthesis is an intraoral prosthesis used to restore any defects such as missing teeth, missing parts of teeth, and missing soft or hard structures of the jaw and palate. It is commonly known as false teeth or dentures. Dentures are custom-made using impressions (mouldings) from your gums. They can be made from either metal or plastic.

Dentures are important to restore functions such as, eating and speech and for aesthetics reasons as an alternative from fixed prosthesis.

Root canal therapy is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canal, becomes inflamed or infected. The procedure involves opening the tooth, removing the damaged pulp, cleaning, shaping, filling and sealing the tooth.

The common causes affecting the pulp are cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma.
Depending upon how much infection there is in the injured tooth, your may be put on medicine before our dentist or Endodontist can begin to work.

Periodontal disease is an inflammation of the gum line that can progress to affect the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth. The three stages of gum disease, from least to most severe are gingivitis, periodontitis and advanced periodontitis. Swollen and bleeding gums are early signs that you have periodontal disease. It is caused by bacteria in dental plaque. Plaque is the sticky substance that forms on your teeth soon after you have brushed. Daily brushing and flossing, when done correctly, can help to remove most of the plaque.

Plaque that is not removed can harden and form “tartar” that cannot be cleaned by brushing. Only a professional cleaning by a dentist or dental hygienist can remove tartar.
The treatment that can be done here are:
·         Scalling & polising
·         Root debridement
·         Gingival surgery

Oral Surgery

There are two types of extractions:
·         A simple extraction – this procedure is on a tooth that can be seen in the mouth. For a simple extraction, the dentist loosens the tooth with an instrument called an elevator. Then the dentist uses forceps to remove the tooth.
·         A surgical extraction – this is a more complex procedure, which is used if a tooth may have broken off at the gum line or has not erupted in the mouth. The oral surgeon will make a small incision into your gum to surgically remove the broken tooth or impacted wisdom tooth.

Oral Care Enhancement

Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and more.

There are many forms of preventive dentistry, such as daily brushing and dental cleanings. To maintain optimal oral health, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visits to the dentist at regular intervals determined by a dentist. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong, and white. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age.

Here, we are providing a few preventive treatment to increase and maintain your healthy smile such as:

Fluoride treatment

Dental Implant

Implants are a strong, attractive option for fixing a toothy smile. An anchor is placed in the patient's jaw and a realistic restoration is built around it. Get rid of your gaps forever with dental implants at MyDentist.
Implants are inserted under local anesthetic. The dentist makes an incision in the gums and holes in the bone for the implants to be fixed into. After fitting the implants, the gums are closed with stitches.
Once the bone has grown around the dental implants, the artificial teeth are added and any necessary bridges or dentures can be fitted.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can greatly improve how your teeth look. Most dentists perform tooth whitening.

Whitening is not a one-time procedure. It will need to be repeated from time to time if you want to maintain the brighter color.

The most common reasons for teeth to get yellow or stained are:

  • Using tobacco
  • Drinking dark-colored liquids such as coffee, cola, tea and red wine
  • Not taking good care of your teeth

Aging makes teeth less bright as the enamel gets thinner and the dentin becomes darker.

It is also possible to have stains inside the tooth. These are called intrinsic stains. For example, intrinsic stains can be caused by exposure to too much fluoride as a child while teeth are developing. Other causes include tetracycline antibiotics. They can stain a child's teeth if taken by a mother during the second half of pregnancy or by a child who is 8 years old or younger. Teeth are still developing during these years. Trauma may also darken a tooth.

Tooth whitening is most effective on surface (extrinsic) stains.

Laser dentistry can be a precise and effective way to perform many dental procedures. The potential for it to improve dental procedures rests in the dentist's ability to control power output and the duration of exposure on the tissue (whether gum or tooth structure), allowing for treatment of a highly specific area of focus without damaging surrounding tissues.

If you consider yourself somewhat of an anxious dental patient and are seeking extreme safety and comfort, you might consider looking for dentists who have incorporated laser techniques into their practices and treatments. It is estimated that 6 percent of general dentists own a laser for soft-tissue applications, with that number expected to increase over time.

As the applications for dental lasers expand, greater numbers of dentists will use the technology to provide patients with precision treatment that may minimize pain and recovery time.
